Forgotten Thresher will spin more often than before, but the Voidrunner only needs to focus on reaching the next weak spot. Now it is crucial for players to use Timeslip during their dashing and grappling abilities to ensure no time is lost between weak points. In Phase 2, the boss will lose some of its bone-plate platforms and move slightly faster than the first stage, but players using Timeslip to extend their grapple reach should be able to complete this segment with no issue.įrom the third stage, Forgotten Thresher's body will shine red with rage, and if Rei comes into contact with its surface, she'll lose HP. Grapple above it and slam down to eliminate one health point from the Massive Anomaly. She is located sitting in front of a fountain within a building, just before reaching the Cyd activation point in Broken Capital.The fountain is in the main path, and thus it is impossible to miss this first encounter. This event may disorient the player, but luckily, Rei won't fall off.Īs long as the Voidrunner strikes the boss's weak points repeatedly in a timely manner, their path will be led to Forgotten Thresher's primary vulnerability spot on its head. Lyris, the aggrieved stranger is the first quest-related NPC that you will come across. ![]() ![]() After striking certain spots on its body, the Massive Anomaly will occasionally spin. However, if the player has trouble reaching a vulnerability point on time, they must remember to use their Timeslip ability. In the beginning, the detonation timer for the Thresher's pulsing attack is generously long. The weak points will usually be laid out in a path leading to the beast's tail. Once Forgotten Thresher has emerged from its slumber, Solar Ash players can speedily race out to meet it and grapple onto one of its dangling tentacles. If the player fails to each one in time, the Anomaly will send a deadly shockwave through its body, resulting in Rei losing one of her shields. The long body of Forgotten Thresher is covered with weak points that Rei must attack, and each of them is spread relatively far apart. With such a promising premise, it is a bit disappointing that there are lore dumps - “show, don’t tell.To defeat it, players will need to employ a similar strategy to when they fought Crater Ouroboros. There are also Dark Souls-esque “Quests” which you get by talking to NPCs, but they aren’t much better. I feel this is a game that would be best told without voice acting or an abundance of information, as the atmosphere already hits the mark with its wonderful sci-fi mysticism. In Solar Ash, Forgotten Thresher is one of the first major bosses you meet. Even the cast of characters, while likable and well-voiced, weren’t able to get me emotionally invested. ![]() Most of the story is delivered through lore dumping - audio logs that didn’t have me hooked. ![]() The story is quite intriguing in its concepts, and the multiple endings are somewhat well-written. You’ll have your AI buddy, Cyd, assisting you, and you’ll meet some survivors of the affected worlds on the way. You’ll cross paths with Echo, a giant ghostly figure who tries to stop you on your mission to activate the Starseed, a device that could destroy the black hole. You play as Rei, a voidrunner who enters the “Ultravoid,” a supermassive black hole that threatens to consume all planets in its path, including Rei’s home world.
